About the Role: Catastrophe Claims Specialist As a Catastrophe Claims Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in adjusting losses that involve multifaceted elements of assigned claims. You'll be responsible for making coverage determinations, evaluating damages, and ensuring timely and effective claim resolution, especially during catastrophic weather events. This role requires a high level of technical competence, strong investigative skills, and the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities: Verify facts of loss and pertinent information to analyze and confirm coverage. Adjust the entire claim process, from investigation to resolution, including scheduling property inspections and issuing payments. Keep insureds informed throughout the claim process and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Determine the method and extent of investigation for each claim, involving outside experts as needed. Document all claim actions, including coverage and damage investigations, in the claim file. Establish and monitor reserves to reflect the anticipated cost of claim resolution. Communicate with insureds, public adjusters, attorneys, and contractors to gather necessary information and facilitate the claims process. Handle claims requiring a Reservation of Rights or denial and coordinate alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation or appraisal. Apply advanced negotiation skills to resolve disputed claims effectively. What We're Looking For: Education: A four-year college degree is preferred, along with prior experience with an insurance carrier or agency. Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in Property & Casualty Insurance or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications: Must maintain a Florida 620 License and obtain licenses for Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia if not already possessed. Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in computer usage and data entry. Ability to work effectively under stress, especially during extended hours and in response to catastrophic events.
