Department Information This position is only open to Colorado state residents. This posting may be used to fill additional vacancies at this location. This position is eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) after the initial training period. The FWA includes a hybrid workplace which is partly remote (work from home) and partly in office at a satellite location that may be located in Canon City, Denver, Pueblo, and other locations throughout the state, or at our Headquarters location in Colorado Springs. Description of Job The Colorado Department of Corrections is the largest state agency with close to 6500 employees in 20 facilities, Headquarters and 19 parole offices around the state. The CAREER (Cultivating Advocacy, Recruitment, Employee Engagement, and Retention) team is responsible for providing innovative recruitment/retention strategies through technology and other cutting edge ideas. The Career team is responsible for identifying, acquiring, assessing, and recruiting candidates to fill open positions within the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). To retain the staff, CAREER focuses on Retention and Engagement Advocacy Leaders or REAL Visits to engage with staff and discuss what is important to theme CAREER team works closely with the analysts, this position calls upon knowledge of HR recruiting best practices, including social media, and knowledge of the business to accomplish customers' hiring goals and objectives. This position supports HR analysts as they provide consultation and support to customers throughout the organization.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Utilize strategies and contribute to the CDOC Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan deliverables and goals, focusing on EDI implementation in recruitment and selection practices; keeping diversity and inclusion as a top priority in recruiting;
- Promote careers through a variety of social media, virtual and in-person events;
- Develop and implements innovative and effective recruitment strategies that are aligned with current organizational needs and to effectively meet hiring goals for hard-to-fill and routine positions;
- Provide cutting-edge recruitment/retention strategies through innovation and technology;
- Research trends with measurable results and data oversight;
- Assist with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of work flow in the program or section area;
- Monitor compensation and job market trends to target state and nationwide recruitment and retention;
- Seek out and provide cutting-edge recruitment/retention strategies through innovation and technology;
- Coordinate dissemination of appropriate information such as items for publication, presentations, reports, brochures, letters and other materials to support internal and external recruitment and retention goals and activities;
- Establish networking partnerships by interacting throughout the state with work-force centers, colleges, universities, trades/professional schools, military transition specialists to find qualified passive and active candidates;
- Create a pipeline and pool of qualified candidates in advance of actual need, especially for open continuous job postings;
- Tailoring the perks DOC offers to appeal to modern workers (wellness program, shift differential, etc.).;
- Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive and accurate tracking system to record recruiting efforts, status, contacts, coordination of events and resources;
- Ensure the staffing needs of the department are being met, with a long-term talent strategy and retention in mind;
- Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine effectiveness of recruiting efforts;
- Develop professional looking presentations and/or training for recruiting;
- Plan and coordinate specific recruiting initiatives to engage networking partners and potential candidates such as hiring events, facility tours, presentations etc.;
- Frequent travel throughout the state is required;
- Occasional travel outside the state is required;
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: Six (6) years of relevant experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in recruitment and retention (any work experience less than full time will be prorated).
-OR- A combination (that equals 6 years) of higher education from an accredited college and experience in recruiting, marketing, human resourcesor relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.

- Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, to include English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments and written/practical exams in Defensive Tactics;
- Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics;
- Lift arms above head and kick as high as own waist;
- Stabilize another person to accomplish a controlled take down;
- Use arms, palms of hands, shins, and feet to deliver blows;
- Withstand impact (slow speed or with a safety bag) on own body from strikes/blows;
- Swing a baton in a striking technique;
- Rotate body 90 degrees with feet planted for striking with foot or using a defensive tactic;
- Get down on one or both knees and up again with multiple repetitions;
- Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment;
- Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security;
- Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury;
- Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently;
- Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations;
- Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner;
- Work with people of the opposite sex, diverse racial ethnic groups, mentally ill and emotionally disturbed offenders;
- Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments;
- Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings;
- Willing and able to travel;
- Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule;
- TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire;
- Employees may be required to submit to regular serial testing and reporting for COVID-19.
