You're the standard bearer! The Director of Operations holds all Ian's Pizza restaurant managers accountable to the highest standard of restaurant operations (service, food quality, and cleanliness), ensuring all. This position will oversee our current 3 restaurant locations, the Catering/Off-site department, and any future restaurant openings in the Milwaukee cluster, reporting directly to the Managing Partner.

Restaurant Manager Coaching and Accountability

You are the coach, and the restaurant managers are your team. You'll train, develop and hold managers accountable to company standards with the ultimate goal of boosting profitability and increasing customer and employee satisfaction. To do this well, you'll need to provide regular, supportive feedback directly to managers on their successes and challenges

Project Development and Management

It's a major part of the job to identify opportunities and take action! You'll collaborate with managers and the Ian's Corporate (ISC) team to develop and roll out new processes, projects, and promotions. Organization skills, follow-through, and attention to detail are key!

Hands-on Approach

The Director of Operations must maintain a solid understanding of all restaurant functions, which will enable you to train staff effectively, delegate tasks appropriately, and build trust with your team. Expect to regularly visit locations during all shifts-days, nights, and weekends-to assess cleanliness, food quality, service levels, staff training, and cost control AND to get to know the people and teams you work with.

Collaboration with Various Stakeholders

You'll plan and lead the General Manager meetings, participate in store-level manager meetings, and sit in on other team or all-staff meetings as needed. You are a bridge between the Managing Partner and store leadership and day-to-day operations, and you will meet and communicate regularly with the MP to keep priorities and progress on track. We use Gmail and other Google products, such as Docs, Sheets, etc, as our primary communication and organization tools.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' restaurant management experience at a multi-unit level - preferably in quick-service, fast-casual setting.
  • Project management experience or education required. Must be able to manage people, projects and initiatives, both large and small, from start to finish with a strong commitment to their success. Examples may include experience with menu costing projects, training revisions, payroll process implementation, referral bonus promotion, etc.

  • Proven track record and success managing multiple units/stores
  • Proven track record and success in selecting, coaching, developing, and retaining strong management teams.
  • Able to maintain credibility with teams by being trustworthy and follow through on commitments consistently.
  • Ability to respond to operating issues or problems that occur outside of business hours.
  • Ability to travel daily throughout the assigned district (Milwaukee area), including a valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Physical demands of the job include needing to be able to stand and walk for long period; to bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs; to use hot ovens, pizza cutters and other sharp equipment, and other equipment of the business.
  • English language proficiency is required. Bilingual in Spanish is a bonus!

Scheduling and Work Location

This position is salaried for 40 hours a week, and most working hours will fall between 9am-7pm Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend expectations to adequately evaluate restaurant operations during peak sales times.

While this position will not have you regularly slinging slices, it will have you working closely with operational managers and a deep understanding of restaurant operations is required. You will be expected to work 1 operational shift per month, with the goal of working at each location once per quarter, to remain connected to the day-to-day operations of the restaurants and catering events. Additionally, the Director of Operations will spend the majority of their work hours in the restaurants to remain connected to staff and management teams.
