Job Description
Job Description Full Time Infant Nanny - West Seattle Kind, laid back, professional and fun family in West Seattle is looking for a long term, full time nanny for their infant daughter starting in the new year.
The right nanny for this family is calm, positive, nurturing by nature, very experienced caring for infants and genuinely passionate about their chosen profession.
Speak a second language? Have a great sense of humor? Those would be a huge plus ... but not required.
This will be a fun and rewarding job with a chance to work with parents who are great communicators, considerate and true team players.
THE DETAILS Location: West Seattle 98136 - there is a chance that the family will be relocating to Seattle proper in the next year (but on the South Side, not terribly far from where they are now)
Start Date: Ideally end of January (1/27). The most important thing to this family is that they find the right fit for their family.
Schedule & Hour s: Full Time Monday through Friday from 8am - 4pm
Child: baby girl born 10/2/24
Compensation: $35-$36/hr DOE with room to grow
Benefits: Standard, PTO (guaranteed hours, paid sick time, paid vacation, paid holidays), possible heath insurance stipend
Duration: The family is hoping to find someone willing to commit to a year, with the possibility the relationship continues well beyond that!
Work from home: Both parents work full time from separate home offices. Both parents have demanding jobs and will mostly be in their offices throughout the day.
Travel: No family travel required
Pets: 12y/o black lab. Very lazy, chill and an Olympic worthy napper
Driving: The family will encourage the nanny to get out and about to do activities with the baby as she grows. And they will provide a car for on-the-job driving
Other: The family is exploring the idea of a possible nanny share down the road. And while this is not set in stone, they want to put it out there as they want to find someone that is open to the idea (for the right fit of course!). And of course if this happens, there will be a compensation review as well as a new negotiated contract so that everyone is on the same page!
ABOUT THE FAMILY Mom is outgoing, creative and appreciates beauty in both the home and the outdoors. She prioritizes mental & physical health and wellbeing and is an avid reader. She is career driven, logical and thoughtful.
Dad is a bit more introverted but kind, loyal, devoted to his family and laid back. While also career focused, he's athletic and loves spending time in the great outdoors.
Both parents value open, honest and direct communication.
Little Miss, with her intense eyes and blooming curiosity for the world, loves to observe the people and places around her. She is very happy when being shown around the house, yard, or looking at the trees above on a walk. She is generally a very calm baby, but she can get bored and fussy if she is looking to change environments or be entertained by a new book or toy. It's very important to this family that they find someone that wants to help with her development (leaps, language, art, music and otherwise!)
SOME WORDS FROM THE FAMILY Please describe your child rearing preferences and expectations and include any parenting philosophies you implement: Gentle (but not permissive) parenting. We like to maintain an environment that is calm, measured and positive. We want to encourage our daughter to explore the world around her and want to find a nanny that will nurture and encourage her development.
What is a typical daily routine/schedule for your child? We do not follow a super firm schedule for her, but she wakes up around 8-9am, has wake windows of 60-90m during which time we play/feed/change, and is napping for anywhere between 30m - 2 hours currently. Night routine is a bath around 7pm followed by massage, pjs, feed, change, swaddle and lullabies before bed. We try to get outside for a walk or outdoor time at least once a day. In addition to caring for the baby, will you require any household management or cleaning responsibilities of the nanny? We want to find someone that will keep the baby's room, play areas and common areas tidy and organized. Laundry for the baby only. General tidying of common areas (loading/unloading dishwasher, etc.) and occasional errands (grocery shopping, etc) as time and baby's needs permit.
What is your preferred way to safeguard against contagious illness (Flu, Covid-19, RSV, etc)? RSV and flu shots ideally, but not mandatory. Wash hands frequently, be thoughtful about staying hygienic in general.
Do you require your nanny to have certain vaccinations? TDaP required, RSV and flu preferred. Wash hands frequently, be thoughtful about staying hygienic and healthy in general.
How would you describe the right nanny/fit for your family: We'd really like to find someone that fits in seamlessly with our family and enjoys spending time at our home and with the three of us. We have a relaxed atmosphere in the house, and want someone with a calm but fun demeanor who finds great joy in childcare and the development of young minds. It's critically important that Aurora feels loved by and enjoys spending time with this person. We would LOVE to find someone bilingual and/or musical that can teach her a new language and/or music!
Let us know if this sounds like your dream job and please be sure to upload your resume when you complete the initial application. We look forward to hearing from you!
Requirements In addition to what we outlined above, ion order to be considered for this position (and we swear you will LOVE this family), you must:
