The GIS Intern is responsible for providing assistance to staff within the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works: Capital Improvement Section and the Traffic Section. Duties anticipated include project plan reviews, project meeting attendance, project inspections, field data gathering, and project inspections as needed. This position will work, on average, less than 20 hours per week for a specific period of time. Use of technology, equipment and software typically used in the office environment. Skills in reading and interpreting engineering plans or reports, technical engineering specifications, standards, methods and procedures. Abilities: Research, read, interpret, and work from field notes, plans, specifications, and similar data Interaction with Groups/Agencies/Entities: This position works with engineering staff on various assignments on an as needed basis. This position must maintain harmonious, courteous, and understanding relationships, while fostering a collaborative teamwork environment.
