About this Career Opportunity

Strategic Management is currently seeking a highly motivated professional for a Consultant position to work in our Alexandria, VA office. The Consultant will work on client engagements, working both in teams and independently to meet client needs and meeting regulatory requirements. The Consultant will be well versed in areas of healthcare compliance, specializing in HIPAA Privacy, Breach Notification Rule, Omnibus Rule, and state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA).

Responsibilities Include

  • Possess an expert knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Breach Notification Rules.
  • Work integrally with teams in client engagements.
  • Have working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements, such as Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act.
  • Assist in drafting briefings, review protocols, and reports.
  • Conducts research and analysis on federal and state healthcare regulations including, but not limited to, HIPAA, OCR guidance, CMS regulations, and state privacy laws and presents the findings in a client-ready oral or written format. Present findings directly to clients.
  • Works as part of a team or independently to evaluate the effectiveness of clients' privacy programs and uses owns knowledge and experience to identify recommendations for improvement that align with government and industry standards and guidance.
  • Works as part of a team or independently to develop and implement privacy programs within clients' organizations that meet the standards set forth by HHS OCR and other applicable governing bodies.
  • Leads and provides interim Privacy staffing support services for clients.
  • Maintains current knowledge and understanding of privacy and healthcare laws, rules and regulations, applicable state privacy laws and government-issued guidance.
  • Maintains an understanding of Strategic Management standards, protocols and procedures that guides how services are conducted and delivered to clients.
  • Maintains professional certifications required for the position.
  • Completes all assignments consistently on-time and at a professional level that meets quality and accuracy standards.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess professional experience with:

  • Federally commissioned bodies that regulate healthcare privacy
  • HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, Omnibus Rule, Breach Notification Rule
  • State privacy laws (e.g. CA Consumer Privacy Act)
  • Privacy and breach investigation and remediation
  • Policy and procedure development
  • Training development and delivery
  • Superior writing skills
  • 5-7 years of healthcare privacy consulting experience (may be substituted for relevant legal or in-house compliance/privacy experience).
  • Preferred experience as a Privacy Officer.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs (Travel is estimated at up to 80%)

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Public Policy/Administration, or Business Administration with a healthcare industry emphasis or Law Degree
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or possess another accredited Privacy certification
