Work LocationNEW YORK Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship in the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), Public Service Innovation Branch, is for three months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the Division. For more information about the Division, please visit The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. The unpaid internship is designed to be in person and full-time at the New York duty station. The duration and modality may be adjusted at the request of the successful candidate. Depending on the situation of the successful candidate, the internship may also offer a Flexible Work Arrangement to be hybrid (in-person and remote). The intern's main task will be to assist the team working on the Public Sector Innovation project (see by providing research assistance and analysis of qualitative data. The intern will work under the supervision of project manager(s). Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: • Conducting desk research to identify reports, studies, and other relevant information related to the scope of the project; • Analyzing national reports and mapping the institutional arrangements in target countries of Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam; • Assisting in the drafting and preparation of analytical documents. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D.
