Job Description

SPM Resources has an immediate need for a Junior Electrical Engineer located in Roanoke, VA with a growing national electrical engineering firm. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with 1-3 years' experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical power systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to design, develop, and implement electrical systems for public utility projects.
• Assist in the preparation of electrical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and assess project requirements.
• Perform electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, and protective device coordination.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues that arise during construction or maintenance.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• FE or EIT
• 1-2 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with public utility projects.
• Knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microstation, ETAP, or similar).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the field.
