What We Offer The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $22.76 - $34.14/hour. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location This position will report to the Downtown Parks Operations Park Avenue shop located at 3375 Park Ave West in Denver. The typical work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., but the schedule may vary based on need.
What You'll Do Denver Parks & Recreation is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to support Downtown Denver Park Operations. This position offers the opportunity to build rapport and positive working relationships with important stakeholders. This position will perform semi-skilled trades work in a variety of areas for the construction, maintenance, and repair of City facilities and equipment..

Specifically, as a Maintenance Technician you will:
- Perform various park maintenance and landscaping duties such as trash and debris removal, graffiti removal, repairs in response to vandalism, power washing, etc.
- Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of a variety of machinery, equipment, and facility systems and structures
- Drive a truck and trailer in downtown areas
- Perform preventative maintenance, basic maintenance, and minor repairs to equipment
- Observe on-board instruments while operating equipment and take routine corrective action if malfunctions are indicated
- Keep trip records and logs, report defects, accidents, damages, or traffic violations
- Clean and attend to restroom facilities in the park
- Assist with additional special projects such as volunteer projects or special events downtown
- Interact courteously with the public and provide good customer service
- Participate in snow removal and other park maintenance duties as needed
- Perform semi-skilled, unlicensed trades work in multiple areas including irrigation system maintenance, mechanical maintenance, tool machinery, equipment maintenance, minor electrical, minor plumbing, painting, etc.
- Read irrigation drawings and perform construction and maintenance/repair and replacement of broken parts on various equipment
- Maintain irrigation and sprinkler systems for seasonal use

We are looking for a reliable maintenance professional who is looking for an opportunity to showcase their skills and build relationships in a high-profile area of parks. Our ideal candidate will be adept with safety considerations and skilled in building strong working relationships. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with parks maintenance operations
- Experience with mowers, tractors, blowers, chainsaws, and other hand power tools
- Experience working with a horticulturist to develop a watering plan of plants and flowers
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, programming, and installing irrigation central control systems and parts
- The ability to communicate effectively with internal colleagues and the public
- The ability to work independently with little supervision
- The ability and willingness to work a flexible, changing schedule
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate
- Experience: One (1) year of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or facility maintenance
- Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
- Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
