Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades incumbents perform tasks using various methods, materials, tools, equipment, building codes and safety practices used in mason work. Skill and knowledge in installation and repair of masonry work, including stone, brick, block, tile, marble, plaster and concrete. Skill in mixing/tempering lime and cement motar, mixing/placing concrete and finishing concrete. Knowledge to determine proper foundation conditions and materials to be used. Ability to prepare rough sketches and estimate the cost of masonry work, read and work from working drawings, line furnaces, cut drill and set marble; keep simple records and make reports; follow directions, instruct and lead unskilled assistants, read and write at a level appropriate to the classification.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement.

Typical Working Conditions: On going interaction with Clients, Personnel and the general public. Potential exposure to communicable disease, blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment.
