Job Description

Who We Are

Capital Village PCS is a small learning community where learners take the lead, grow together, and change the world. We are an intentionally small middle school (grades 6-8) with no more than 45 students per grade level and two teachers in every classroom. Grounded in the principles of EL Education (formerly known as Expeditionary Learning), our students will master academic content through engaging social justice projects.

Who You Are

You believe that school can be different, and you want to use your voice and your skills to help shape an innovative new school model that will ultimately grow to serve hundreds of students across the city.

You are, above all, a learner. Your potential is limitless, because you are constantly growing as a person and as a professional.

You are driven by the belief that all children, regardless of their background or their zip code, can achieve at the highest levels. You believe that it is the job of a school to provide the right supports so every student can succeed, including the implementation of restorative justice practices.

You are team-oriented and love to collaborate with others. You understand that running a successful school is hard work, and you are excited to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Operations Associate

We are seeking an Operations Associate who is highly organized, efficient, and a self-starter. A good fit for our team is someone full of creative ideas and eager to contribute to our growth as an organization. The associate will gain visibility into the inner workings and aspects of the operations field and will have plenty of room to grow in our organization.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Director of Operations in operational duties, such as greeting guests, room setup and breakdown, lunch distribution, facilitating a safe arrival and dismissal of students, and other tasks.
  • Support Capital Village School's student recruitment and enrollment goals by distributing print materials, and connecting with families and students in various community spaces.
  • Communicate and build relationships with current and new stakeholders.
  • Work independently and with a team on special and ongoing projects.
  • Manage inventory and ensure that all supplies are well-stocked and organized.
  • Coordinate and oversee school events and activities to ensure smooth execution.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma required, some college preferred.
  • Experience in operations, business, or customer service.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated relationship and community-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Stand-out Candidates will have:

  • Familiarity with the DC charter school sector.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

The Tangible Good

Here are some of the perks:

  • We offer competitive compensation and full medical benefits.
  • 100% employer-paid dental, vision, short-term/long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Gain hands-on experience and connections in operations and school reform.
  • Develop real-world experience in a start-up organization.
  • Personalized professional development with executive leadership as a mentor.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to use a variety of equipment and tools such as computers, copiers, and equipment for events. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.
