Job Description

MAHEC is now accepting applications for experienced Pharmacy Technicians to support increasing business need in partnership with the Patient Access Center. This full-time, benefits-eligible role will be based at MAHEC's Community Pharmacy at Biltmore Campus and will support with growing patient pharmacy needs and call volume from MAHEC's Psychiatry, Dental, and OB/GYN Centers. At all levels, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively as an active team member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum. In this role, the goals include providing an excellent patient experience, high quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates competence in managing various pharmacy workflows and systems including dispensing, pharmacy information systems, and inventory management. Maintains a system for medication storage and security Manages medication recalls and backorders Connects patients to medication assistance resources which includes management of patient assistance program applications through pharmaceutical manufacturers Collaborates with the prior authorizations team Assists pharmacists and other clinicians with medication histories as requested Performs medication refills using a standardized protocol Support learners in the pharmacy department KEY COMPETENCIES: Communication Skills Effectively and respectably communicate with other individuals, whether it be a colleague, patient, or patient's family member and appropriately enumerate information in a manner easily understood by all parties. HealthCare Knowledge Having the drive to keep yourself abreast and up to date on the new breakthroughs in your area of expertise and communicating them to the rest of the team, as appropriate. This also includes keeping up with your licensure and yearly training requirements within your area expertise along with MAHEC's organizational training. Finally, the ability to apply the depth of knowledge maintained and gained through this process in real life scenarios as appropriate. Within your area of expertise, showing respect and showing empathy where appropriate with your colleagues, patients, and their family at all times, even when its most difficult to do so. SPECIFIED SKILLS

COMPUTER: Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required. FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish speaking skills preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Pharmacy Technician III MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license Two (2) years of pharmacy or clinical experience Advanced skillset in one of the following: Clinical care : Ex: refill protocol, medication access, medication reconciliation Retail operations : Ex: inventory management, 340B analysis, workforce management PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program REQUIRED LICENSES: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license SCHEDULE: Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Work from home opportunities may be available for qualified applications. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
