We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UI/UX Designer to lead the redesign and migration of an older portal to a modern, user-centric design. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in UX, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale redesigns. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, UX researcher, and stakeholders to create seamless and intuitive digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead UX Design Efforts: Take ownership of the entire UX design process, from discovery and ideation to the execution of the redesigned portal.
- Portal Migration Expertise: Manage the UX aspects of transitioning from an older portal interface to a modern, responsive design while ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders, business analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements, define user stories, and ensure that design objectives align with business goals.
- Collaborate with UX researcher to conduct user research, usability testing, and user interviews to gather feedback and make data-driven design decisions throughout the migration process.
- Information Architecture: Redefine the information architecture of the portal to ensure that content is easily navigable and intuitive for a variety of user personas.
- Design Systems & Style Guides: Develop and maintain a consistent design language, creating reusable components and patterns that can scale across the portal.
- Prototyping & Wireframing: Create low- and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes to visualize the new portal experience, testing and iterating based on user feedback.
- Accessibility & Responsiveness: Ensure the new portal design is fully accessible and responsive across devices, meeting relevant compliance standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor junior designers, fostering a collaborative environment where best practices in UX design are promoted and followed.
- Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with product teams post-launch to monitor user behavior and gather data on the success of the redesign, implementing improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7+ years of UX design experience, with significant experience in large-scale portal redesigns and migrations.
- Tools: Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Proven experience collaborating with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, delivering high-quality work on time.
- Design Principles: Deep understanding of UX/UI best practices, design thinking, responsive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions to stakeholders.
- Bonus: Experience with Agile methodology and familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Location: San Diego - Hybrid work schedule

Economic Package Includes:
- Salary $130,000 - $155,000
