3. Summary of the opportunity
- Client Overview: Join the Microsoft Search Assistant and Intelligence Responsible AI Science team to identify, measure, and mitigate Responsible AI issues in enterprise products powered by generative AI technology. You'll be working in close collaboration with partners such as Microsoft Research and product teams.
- Role Summary: As a Technical Writer / Sociotechnical Linguist, you will contribute to developing content and product policy guidelines for measuring risks in generative AI. You'll work with interdisciplinary product teams, conduct deep dives, and use your expertise in linguistics and social sciences to identify patterns and capture them in methods, practices, and tools.
4. What are the key responsibilities?
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Contribute to developing measurement artifacts, methods, practices, and tools for identifying, measuring, or mitigating Responsible AI harms caused by large-scale language technologies.
- Conduct deep dives in partnership with Microsoft feature teams.
- Use expertise in linguistics and social sciences to identify patterns across different content harms.
- Develop resources and tools that can be applied across different language technologies, use cases, and deployment contexts.
- Create documentation for a technical audience.
- Collaborate with partners such as Microsoft Research and product teams.
5. What experience are we looking for to drive success?
- MUST-Have Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in linguistics or a related social science field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
- 5-7 years of overall experience in the field.
- Experience in Responsible AI assessment of Generative AI powered systems.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with data analysis.
- Detail-oriented and interpersonal skills.
- Technical writing skills.
- Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Microsoft.
- 1+ years of experience with interacting with generative AI, AI Safety, or Responsible AI.
- 3+ years of experience with content design.
- 3+ years of experience with Excel.
