About Your Work

Under general supervision of the Nurse Practitioner Senior Manager, the Virtual Medical Assistant will provide support to patients, keep the team of virtual Nurse Practitioners running efficiently by performing administrative and clinical functions within patient flow aligned within established guidelines. This role is a fast paced virtual role which will be responsible for virtually rooming patients for annual health assessments, recording medications, reconciling clinical history, and focusing on providing patients with excellent medical care.

You will focus on:

  • Responsible for contacting patients and getting them logged into the virtual exam room and driving a positive patient customer service experience.
  • Virtually rooms patients, collects and documents patient history, medications, and current state of health.
  • Provides patient education and follow-up care instructions, plans and schedules diagnostic tests, process authorizations and referrals, as appropriate.
  • Performs panel management and non-visit tasks as assigned by Provider or Supervisor.
  • Works closely with providers to provide high quality care to each patient by addressing their health needs and concerns.
  • Ensures that all logs, forms, records and charts are complete, thorough and accurate.
  • File medical documents, test results, forms, and insurance information; file and process tasks related to new documents.
  • Support correspondences including calls, tasks, prescription requests, emails, and patient portal requests; direct appropriately when needed; communicate messages accurately and in a timely manner; process forms and letters as needed.
  • Maintain medication records and process medication orders as requested.
  • Practices standard safety precautions to ensure safety to self, other staff and patients.
  • Communicates clearly with providers, other staff and patients to promote optimum flow and proper patient hand off; communicates with NP Senior Manager on urgent issues.
  • Proactively helps teammates during down time.
  • Recommends improvement in processes and practices through the proper channels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of healthcare experience in a clinic or hospital.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and PHI Ability to maintain confidentiality and PHI.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite, strong data entry skills; electronic health record system required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
