As a Division Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Construction Division, managing exciting and impactful projects, and leading a talented team to success.

Job Summary
The Division Manager for the Construction Division in Oregon will oversee all aspects of Teufel’s commercial landscape construction operations. This includes strategic planning, project management, financial oversight, team leadership, and client relationship management. The Division Manager will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards while driving business growth and profitability.

You will lead a team of Project Managers, Estimators, Business Developers, and support staff, while working closely with senior leadership to maintain operational excellence, build strong client relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the division. Regular travel within the Oregon market (mainly Portland Metro area) is required, with time spent between the Hillsboro corporate office and project sites.

Key Responsibilities

Operations and Project Management:

  • Oversee all commercial landscape construction projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor project costs, identify and address variances from estimates, and ensure effective execution.
  • Provide input on financial forecasting and budgeting with senior leadership, ensuring profitability and financial health of projects.
  • Manage contract negotiations, review project documents, and approve plans, specifications, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Lead monthly project review meetings with senior leadership, assessing division performance and addressing areas of improvement.

Business Development and Estimating:

  • Work with the Business Development team to expand client relationships and secure new business opportunities.
  • Review and approve contracts and proposals, ensuring alignment with financial and operational goals.
  • Support the sales team by providing operational insights and participating in key client meetings.
  • Approve final bids, working closely with Business Development to secure new projects and maintain a strong project pipeline.

Team Leadership and Staff Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers, Estimators, and support staff, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and growth.
  • Ensure efficient workflow by coordinating with administrative, purchasing, and contract teams for smooth project execution.
  • Oversee staffing needs, and support recruitment and development of top talent within the division.

Financial and Administrative Oversight:

  • Track and report on division financials, including sales, budgets, project profitability, and overall performance.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and oversee documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including billing, purchasing, and administrative closeouts.
  • Implement cost control strategies to improve profitability and drive operational efficiency.

Travel Expectations:

  • Travel 30-50% of the time within the Oregon market, primarily within the Portland metro area for site visits and client meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 12-15 years of experience in project management, operations, or a related role in the commercial landscape construction industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial landscape construction processes, including estimating, project management, and contract negotiation.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex, large-scale construction projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, and Sage/Timberline. Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients, team members, and leadership effectively.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, or a related field is preferred.
