Position Overview:
Are you detail-oriented and passionate about starting a career in commercial underwriting? We're looking for an Entry-Level Commercial Multiple Peril (CMP) Underwriter to join our team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow in the commercial insurance industry. You'll support senior underwriters in assessing risks, determining appropriate coverage, and helping clients find the best solutions for their needs.
This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with some experience in the insurance field who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze commercial property and liability exposures for new business submissions
- Gather and review documentation to accurately assess risks
- Assist senior underwriters in evaluating applications, determining coverage, and setting premiums
- Help prepare underwriting files and documentation for approval
- Communicate with brokers and agents to gather information and clarify submissions
- Respond to inquiries regarding coverage options and underwriting guidelines
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks relevant to commercial insurance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field
- At least 1 year of commercial underwriting experience preferred, particularly with CMP products
- Basic understanding of commercial property and casualty insurance principles
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional designations such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or AU (Associate in Underwriting) are a plus
- Experience working in a multi-state environment and familiarity with state-specific regulations
