Job Summary

This position will develop and convene programmatic activities related to building and sustaining the Minnesota Health Equity Networks in the Southwest Region of Minnesota. The Networks support a regional approach and a statewide commitment to advancing health and racial equity across Minnesota's public health system through relationship building, convening, capacity building, and providing technical assistance. The Network Coordinators bring together partners from across sectors including local public health, tribal public health, community partners and others. This position aligns with and informs other public health system improvement and strengthening efforts. This position will mobilize network resources to amplify existing best practices and to foster new efforts. This position will foster systems changes through programmatic approaches that reinforce advancing health equity through organizational change and other policy change, relationship building, understanding power dynamics and implicit mental models.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Build and maintain Minnesota health equity networks.
  • Build health equity and community partnerships' foundational capabilities.
  • Align with other MDH equity and engagement efforts.
  • Support reporting requirements.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in one of the following counties in Minnesota: Rock, Nobles, Jackson, Martin, Faribault, Pipestone, Murray, Cottonwood, Watonwan, Blue Earth, Lincoln, Lyon, Redwood, Brown, Nicollet, Yellow Medicine, Renville, Sibley, McLeod, Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Meeker, Big Stone, Swift, Traverse, Stevens, Pope, Grant, or Douglas. Position location will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out of the closest district office. This position doesn't require a driver's license but does demand travel. Reimbursement for authorized business travel expenses is provided according to bargaining unit guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

Two (2) years of experience in the following areas:
  • Experience working in a public health system that provides networking support to local, tribal, and/or community-based organizations.
  • Experience in convening and facilitating meetings with stakeholders.
  • Community planning, community engagement, network development, and network operations.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:


  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Organization and coordination skills sufficient to manage assignments.


Degree Equivalencies

A related associate degree may be substituted for six (6) months of experience. A related bachelor's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. A related master's degree may be substituted for one and a half (1.5) years of experience. A related doctorate degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in the public health system in the Southwest Region of Minnesota.
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of collecting community planning data and preparing reports and studies.
  • Knowledge of public health issues and inequities within the region, along with public health practices and their application in improving health status and health inequities, and experience engaging organizations and individuals from populations impacted by health inequities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of public health partners and individuals from populations impacted by health inequities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance while building the capacity of others and to provide technology support for virtual meetings and facilitate virtual and in-person groups and meetings.
Additional Requirements
  • Must successfully pass a background and reference check.
  • This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand occasional travel which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
  • Under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations, the successful candidate must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins. This agency is unable to offer H-1B sponsorship.
